Segura, Suarez Push Phillies to 2-1 NLCS Lead vs. Padres

It took 1,737 postseason games.

But, we finally have a player who had an error and RBI – and was picked off – in the same game.

Yes, Jean Segura set a rather unusual record Friday night.

Here\’s how it went down – and all in the 4th inning:

  • Error in the top half after mishandling a flip from shortstop Bryson Stott.
  • 2-run single in the bottom half to give the Phillies a 3 – 1 lead.
  • Picked off right after to end the inning.

The bottom of the 6th saw Nick Castellanos and Alec Bohm go back to back with a double each. Bohm\’s double would score Castellanos. That after Padres leftfielder Juan Soto made an ill-advised attempt at a diving catch – missing badly.

Not to be outdone was Ranger Suarez. All he did was give the Phillies 5 solid innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs (1 earned), and striking out three.

The bullpen trio of Zack Eflin, Alvarado, and Seranthony Dominguez would keep the Padres scoreless the rest of the way.

In the end, all that mattered was the Phillies were up to 2 – 1. They won their first NLCS home game in 12 years!

Bailey Falter gets the start for the Phillies in Game 4 of the NLCS back at the Bank Saturday night. He\’ll be opposed by RHP Mike Clevinger for the Padres. First pitch is 7:45 pm.

Phun Note:

People are getting tired of the \”We\’re talking about the Phightins\” guy. They tried to use him as a hype guy at different rallies on Friday. And let\’s just say people weren\’t having it.
